Extract Boundary

Function Description

Extract Boundary is to extract the boundary line of the face object and save the Result Data as Line Dataset. If a line has both left and right polygons, the line is the common boundary of the face object and will be extracted only once; if there is only a single polygon on the left or right, the line belongs to the outer contour line of the Region Dataset.

Function entrance

  • Data tab-> Topology-> Extract Boundary.
  • Toolbox-> Data Processing-> Vector-> Extract Boundary.

Parameter Description

Set the following parameters on the Extract Boundary dialog:

  • Topology Preprocessing: If this option is checked, the Region DatasetTopological preprocessing will be operated before Extract Boundary. Users are advised to check the Topology Preprocessing option. The Topology Preprocessing here will perform Insert for arc intersections on the Region Dataset, adjust the direction of the polygon, and perform the following operations on the Insert between vertex and arc, Capture nodes are handled in four ways. Error data such as false nodes, redundant nodes, suspended lines and repeated lines are avoided, and the quality and availability of Result Data are improved.

    Since this operation is performed directly in the Dataset to be checked, when Move Stop by Mouse to Topology Preprocessing, a message prompt button will appear in front of the check box. The user is prompted, "This operation will modify the Datasource." If the user does not want to modify the Source Data, please back up the data before Topology Preprocessing.

Caution:
  • This function only supports vector surface and Line Dataset.
  • It is recommended to check the Topology Preprocessing option when selecting Extract Boundary to ensure the quality of Result Data.
