Using Layer Group
Feature Description
The layer group function allows grouping management of layers to achieve unified control over display properties, editability, visible scale range, etc., for all layers within the group.
A layer group can also contain other layer groups.
Creating Layer Group
Three methods are provided to create layer groups:
- Method 1: Click the New button in the layer manager toolbar to create an empty layer group.
- Method 2: Right-click on a blank area in the layer manager or an existing layer group's context menu, then select New to create an empty layer group.
- Method 3: Select one or multiple layers in the layer manager, right-click and choose Move to Group -> New Group to create a group containing the selected layers.
Moving Layers to Groups
Two methods are provided to add layers to existing groups:
- Method 1: In the layer manager, select one or multiple layers/layer groups and drag them to the target layer group to add them.
- Method 2: Select one or multiple layers/layer groups, then use the Move to Group option in the context menu to add them to the specified layer group.

- Cross-group selection of multiple layers/groups is not allowed. You cannot simultaneously select multiple layers/groups from different layer groups (e.g., Layer Group A and Layer Group B) at the same hierarchy level.
- Copying layer groups in the layer manager is supported, enabling multi-layer duplication in group format.
Layer Group Properties
Layer groups manage all layers within them. Use the properties button in the layer group's context menu to view its attributes.
- Visible: Check the Visible checkbox to make all layers in the selected layer group visible. Uncheck it to hide all layers in the group.
- Layer Name: Displays the name of the selected layer group. The name cannot be modified and serves as a unique identifier for the group within the map.
- Layer Caption: Displays the title of the selected layer group. The caption can be modified, which changes the display name in the layer manager without affecting the group's original name.
- Minimum Visible Scale: Sets the minimum visible scale for all layers in the group. If the map scale is smaller than this value, all layers in the group become invisible. Enter a scale value (e.g., 1:500000) in the numeric adjustment box, set the current map scale as the minimum visible scale, or choose from default scales (1:5000 to 1:1000000) via the drop-down. If fixed scales are set for the map, the drop-down will show those predefined scales.
- Maximum Visible Scale: Sets the maximum visible scale for all layers in the group. If the map scale exceeds this value, all layers in the group become invisible. Enter a scale value, set the current map scale, or select from default/fixed scales via the drop-down, similar to the Minimum Visible Scale setting.
