Obtain Coordinate System via EPSG Code

Feature Description

The Coordinate System Settings dialog supports creating coordinate systems through EPSG codes. The European Petroleum Survey Group (EPSG) maintains and publishes datasets of parameters for coordinate reference systems and coordinate transformation descriptions. Different combinations of existing ellipsoids, projected coordinate systems, etc., correspond to unique ID codes called EPSG Codes, which represent specific information about ellipsoids, units, geographic coordinate systems, or projected coordinate systems.

Feature Entry

  • Image Panel -> Dataset Context Menu -> Properties -> Coordinate System item in properties panel -> Reset Coordinate System... button -> Coordinate SystemSettings dialog -> New Coordinate System dropdown menu -> Obtain With EPSG Code button.
  • Map Context Menu -> Properties -> Coordinate System option in MapsProperties panel -> Reset Coordinate System... button -> Coordinate SystemSettings dialog -> New Coordinate System dropdown menu -> Obtain With EPSG Code button.

Steps

  1. Select Obtain With EPSG Code from the New Coordinate System dropdown menu in the Coordinate System Settings dialog.
  2. Enter the EPSG Code in the Obtain via EPSG Code dialog. EPSG Code is a professional parameter whose ID varies depending on different projected coordinate systems and geographic coordinate systems.
  3. Click the OK button to add the coordinate system under this EPSG code to the custom group.
