Recalculate Extent/Length/Perimeter and Area

Recalculate Extent

Recalculate extent is used to update the extent of one or more vector datasets.

Feature Entry

  • Workspace Manager->Dataset node context menu->Recalculate Extent option.

Steps

  1. In the context menu of one or more vector datasets in the Workspace Manager that require recalculating extent, select the Recalculate Extent command. The system will then recalculate the extent for the selected vector dataset.
  2. If the calculation is successful, the output window will display: "Dataset *** has been recalculated for extent."

Recalculate Length

Recalculate length is applicable to line datasets, and it calculates the length of line objects in the dataset.

Feature Entry

  • Workspace Manager->Dataset node context menu->Recalculate Length option.

Steps

  1. In the context menu of one or more line datasets in the Workspace Manager that require recalculating length, select the Recalculate Length command. The system will then recalculate the length for the selected line dataset.
  2. If the calculation is successful, the output window will display: "Dataset *** has been recalculated for length."

Recalculate Perimeter and Area

Recalculate perimeter and area is applicable to region datasets, and it calculates the perimeter and area of region objects in the dataset.

Feature Entry

  • Workspace Manager->Dataset node context menu->Recalculate Perimeter and Area option.

Steps

  1. In the context menu of one or more region datasets in the Workspace Manager that require recalculating perimeter and area, select the Recalculate Perimeter and Area command. The system will then recalculate the perimeter and area for the selected region dataset.
  2. If the calculation is successful, the output window will display: "Dataset *** has been recalculated for perimeter and area."
