As the cloud GIS portal platform, SuperMap iPortal provides resource integration capabilities and search functions for GIS resources, such as: maps, services, scenes, data, insights, dashboards, GPA models, design 3D, projects, Notebook, etc. You can access and browse all kinds of these GIS resources in Resource Center, and use the provided search function to fast locate the GIS resources you need.
Resource browsing
On iPortal navigation bar, click "Resource Center" to enter the resource list page; or hover on "Resource Center" tab, then select the displayed items (Map, Service, Data, etc.) in the drop-down list to enter the corresponding sub-resource page.
After entering resource list page, you can browse resources by choosing the preferred view mode, filter your interested resource with category filter and tags filter, featured filter, favorites filter, or find the newest, hottest resource with the category sort function.
Change view mode
iPortal resource list page supports two view modes: list view and grid view. Additionally, service resource supports preview mode to fast view the services on the map. All these view modes can be switched at any time.
Category filter
Category Filter means to classify different types of resources according to their sources, types, etc., to fast locate a certain type of resources. iPortal supports classification by sharing scope, resource type, and custom directory.
- Filter with sharing scope
All resources in iPortal, including maps, services, scenes, data, projects, insights, dashboards, notebook, etc., support filter with sharing scope. The sharing scope of iPortal resources includes:
- Public resources: The resources which have the permission of public searchable, or higher than public searchable. Not logged in users only can view Public Resources.
- Resources in my organization: The resources shared with the user's department. My Organization's Resources requires to open the Organization Configuration function.
- Resources in my groups: The resources shared with the user's groups.
- My resources: The resources owned by the user himself. A user who has the permission of creating resources can create and view My Resources.
- Filter with resource type
The service, project resources in iPortal support resource type filtering. On the "Type" area of the left panel of resource list page, you can filter different type of resources.
- Service resource, supports to filter with the service type, such as: "SuperMap REST", "ArcGIS REST", "WMS", "WFS", "WMTS", "WCS", "WPS", etc.
- Project resource, supports to filter with the app type, such as: "WEBAPP", "MOBILEAPP", "BUILDERAPP", etc.
- Filter with custom directory
iPortal supports administrators to customize directories to meet actual application scenarios. When the administrator finished configuring the custom directory for maps, services, senes, data, insights, GPA models, design 3D, and apps, the left panel of the corresponding resource page will list each configured custom directory with the specific directory structure. If you want to reorganize the custom directories, or add your new resources to one custom directory, please contact your iPortal administrator.
Tags filter
A tag is the characteristic defined by the owner of the map, service, scene, data, insight, dashboard, project, GPA model, design 3D resources to identify a resource quickly. On the left panel of the resource list page, you can filter resources by clicking the specific tag in the Tags filter.
Featured filter
The administrator can use the resource management function to mark resources (data/maps/services/scenes/insights/dashboards/GPA models/design 3D/notebooks/projects) in the portal as featured resources. Featured resources will carry a featured mark when displayed. When browsing resources in the Resource Center (or App center), you can identify the featured resources by the featured mark or directly open the "featured panel" switch to view the featured resources in the portal.
Favorites filter
Users can set resources (data/maps/services/scenes/insights/dashboards/GPA models/design 3D/notebooks/projects) within the portal as favorite resources via resource management, you can view favorite resources via my favorites when browsing resources in the resource center..
Category sort
Category Sort is to sort resources according to a specific characteristic to make the disordered resource list rule-based, for users to find the target resource clearly and intuitively. On Resource Center pag, the drop-down list includes all the supported sorting field, such as: Modified Time, Visits / Downloads, and both ascending and descending sort are supported, for you to easily find the latest or hottest resource.
Resource searching
iPortal supports the following two ways to perform resource searching to assist you easily and quickly find the needed GIS resources.
- Use the search box on the left panel of the resource list page to search
- Use the global search on the navigation bar to perform a more extensive search
Use the search box on the resource list page
In the search box on the left panel of the resource list page, input keywords, such as "china", press Enter on keyboard or click search button on the screen, all the search results that meet the conditions will be listed. You can also use the multiple provided filters by resource browsing to narrow the search results for resource positioning.
Global search
Global Search can retrieve resources that match the search conditions in all types of resources in iPortal. Supported search conditions include keywords and geographic scope.
- Keywords-based search: In the global search box on the navigation bar, input keywords, such as "world", press Enter on the keyboard or click search button on the screen, iPortal will automatically list the resources whose title or description matches the keyword.
- Geographic scope based search: To filter the resources whose geographic coordinates located in the given scope. iPortal provides the following two ways to set the geographic scope:
- In the "Bounds" box, input the coordinates of the left-bottom and upper-right corner of a rectangle;
- Click icon
, in the pop-up window, click
button to draw a rectangle on the map, click "Apply" to complete the scope setting.
You can also combine keywords and geographic scope to achieve a more refined and accurate search. And the global search results also support label filter and category sort to assist you to find the target resource clearly and intuitively.
The global search ability of iPortal is based on the ElasticSearch server. The server address and parameters of the global search server are supported to configure, please refer to: Global Search Configuration.
Access resource
After retrieving and locating the needed resource, you can access the details of the resource. For the resources you have the view permission, such as maps, scenes, insights, dashboards, you can further open them in the corresponding WebApp; for the resources you don't have the view permission, you can apply the right from the resource owner.
View resource details
Click the thumbnail of the resource or the "Detail" button of the resource item to enter the resource details page, which includes: meta info and sharing settings.
- Meta info: The meat info of a resource includes the resource's name, thumbnail, label, creator, update time, visits/downloads, description, etc. Additionally, some types of resources have special meta info items:
- map: The coordinate system information, center point, map extent, and the map's layer list.
- service: Service address ( iPortal defaults to enabling Service Proxy function, so the proxied address of service will be displayed ), type, service reference system, service identifier, service extent, and service provider information.
- data: The data's type, data extent, coordinate system, data provider, file size, etc. If the hosted service is published, the information of the published service will be also included.
- Sharing settings: You can view or modify the sharing scope of the current resource. Only the resource owner and administrator have permission to set the sharing scope. For details, see: Sharing Resources
Preview service
For service resources with viewing permission, click the "Service Preview" button of the service entry to view the visualization effect of the service. iPortal provides the following preview modes:
- Preview View: View services through the preview view mode in the iPortal Content Center
- DataViz preview: Viewing services via iPortal DataViz WebApp
- iClient Preview: Viewing services through the visual interactive development platform SuperMap iClient JavaScript
- Custom preview: View the service through the address specified by the service owner (the service owner needs to set a custom preview address), and through the custom preview, you can view services that cannot be visualized in iPortal, such as ArcGIS REST services, etc.
View resource in WebApps
For the resources, such as maps, scenes, insights, dashboards, that you have the view or higher permissions, you can view them with the built-in WebApps. For details, see: View resources in WebApp.
