SuperMap iPortal provides administrators with the following DataInsights management functions:
- Create insights: Create insight projects for data visualization and spatial analysis.
- Review insights: Review insights added and edited by common users. (Insight Review is disabled by default. You can enable this function in the iportal.xml configuration file. For details, see: iPortal configuration file description)
- Manage insights: Manage all the insight projects created in iPortal (view, edit, retrieve, delete, modify the sharing scope, set as featured).
Log in to iPortal as an administrator, click Management> Resources Management> DataInsights, then you can uniformly manage all the Insights created by different users.
Create insights
On the DataInsights management page, click the Create Insights button to enter the DataInsights WebApp page. You can upload local data files, choose one or more data from Sample Data, choose data from My Data, or chose one service from My Services, then perform visualization operations such as charts analysis, spatial analysis, etc.
Review insights
The insights added and edited by ordinary users of iPortal application need to be reviewed and approved by the administrator before they can be retrieved and used in iPortal.
Enable/Disable insight Review
The insight audit function is not enabled by default. iPortal administrator, after logging in, click Manage > Resource Management > Insight > Insight Audit to enter the "Insight Audit" page, click "Enable" button to enable the insight audit function.
Meanwhile, Portal administrators can enable or disable this function by modifying iportal.xml in [SuperMap iPortal installation directory]\webapps\iportal\WEB-INF folder. For details,see: iPortal configuration file description.
Configure insight attribute fields
Configure insight attribute fields, i.e., configure which insight attribute fields need to be re-audited by the administrator after being modified. If an ordinary user modifies the approved insight, even if he/she modifies any of the attribute fields, by default, the administrator needs to re-examine the insight. Of course, the administrator can configure in the iportal.xml configuration file which insight attribute fields need to be re-audited after being modified. Insight attribute fields include: name (fileName), description (description), thumbnail (thumbnail), tags (tags), For specific configuration, see: iPortal configuration file description.
Review insight
After logging into the iPortal as an administrator, you can view the insight to be reviewed in Pending Items on Management>Home page, or you can view them by entering Management>Resources Management>Insight Review page. Then you can perform the following operations:
- Pass: Check the insight that meets the requirements, click the "Audit Passed" button to complete the audit of the insight, support batch audit, the audited insight will be displayed in the insight creator's "My Insight" list, and the status shows The approved insight will be displayed in the "My Insight" list of the insight creator, and the status will be "Approved".
- Reject: If the added insight does not meet the requirements, click the "Dismiss" button, fill in the dismissal opinion and submit it for dismissal, support batch dismissal. The rejected insight will be displayed in the "My Insight" list of the insight creator as "Passed".
- Delete: You can also delete the insight to be reviewed, support batch delete, after the insight is deleted, the insight will be deleted from the insight creator's "My Insight" list.
You can also click the name of the insight to view the details of the insight, and you can directly "pass", "reject" or "delete" the insight at the bottom of the page.
The system will send a message to the insight creator when the insight is approved or rejected, and the insight creator can view the message in "My Messages".
Manage insights
On the insight management page, you can perform the following management operations for all the insight applications created in the portal.
View/Edit basic insight Infos
Click one specified insight, the detailed info page will appear, click the "Edit Attributes" button at the right bottom page, you can replace the thumbnail and edit the insight project name, tags and description.
Rename insights
You can rename a insights name. Move the mouse to the target insights name, click the button that appears, the insights name will be in the editing state. After editing, click any blank position to exit the editing operation.
Delete insights
Check one or multiple insights and click the "Delete" button to remove the items you don't need anymore.
Search insights
Search the insight you want to find by inputting the insight name or owner in the input box on the right bottom page.
Modify the sharing scope of insights
On the DataInsights management page, check one or more insights, and click the "Share" button to modify the sharing permissions of insights in batches. The supported sharing scopes include:
- Private: Only the author and portal administrator can retrieve, view, delete, and edit insight information.
- Public: Including three options: All users (including anonymous users) can search, All users (including anonymous users) can view, All login users can edit.
- Designated Department: Allow members of the designated department to search, view, and edit. You can specify that members under one or more departments can search, view, and edit. By default, sharing with department function is disabled; to enable sharing with department, the administrator needs to configure it in the iportal.xml configuration file.
- Designated groups: Allow members of the designated groups to search, and view. You can specify that members under one or more groups can search, and view.
- Designated User: Allow designated users to search, view, and edit. You can add one or more users to the "Selected Users" list. Users in the "Selected Users" list have retrieval permissions by default, and you can manually check the viewing or editing permissions.
If you have selected multiple insights with the same authorized sharing scope, when you click "Share", you can view their current sharing scopes; if the sharing scopes are different, you cannot view them, but you can still authorize the selected insights in bulk. After authorization, these insights have the same sharing scope.
Set as featured insights
On the DataInsights management page, click the button in the "Set as Featured" column to mark the corresponding insight as a Featured insight. When displaying featured insights in the Resource Center, it will carry the corresponding featured logos, so that portal members can quickly access the featured resources. Note: Insight resources with private permissions can't be set as featured resources.
