Measure Area
Instructions for use
The Area button is used to perform Area Measure on the surface in the scene. Area Measure is divided into Spatial Area Measure, Terrain Area Measure and By object area Measure. Spatial Area measurement refers to the area of a certain region with the same elevation value; Terrain Area measurement refers to the area of Draw Region measured according to the topographic relief; By object area measurement refers to calculating the area of Draw Region according to the fluctuation of Model Data object.
Operation steps
- First, set the area unit used in Area Measure. Set the area unit through Unit in the Measurement group in the Scene tab. The default unit is square meters.
- On the Scene tab, in the Measurement group, click the Area Drop-down Button, and select the Spatial area "or Terrain Area".
- Move Stop by Mouse to Scene. When the mouse status turns to a red dot, you can perform Area Measure on the surface of the earth in the scene.
- Click the left mouse button continuously at the appropriate position, and Draw Polygon to delineate the area range to be measured. When two or more nodes of the polygon are determined, move the mouse, and the current mouse point can be compared with the determined points. A temporary region is formed, and the temporary region changes with the movement of the mouse. At the same time, the area value of the currently delineated temporary region is displayed next to the mouse.
- Right-click to end Area Measure. The value annotation of the current area appears in the corresponding position, and the value of the Area Measure is also displayed in the Output Window.
- Click the Clear button in the Measure group to clear the value annotation of Area Measure in the current Scene.
- Click the Click to delete button in the Measure group, and then click the region annotation value to be cleared to clear the current Area Measure region and value annotation.
- If you need to continue with the Area Measure, repeat steps 1 through 7.
Precautions
- Measure Area in the scene. It can only be measured on the Earth Surface. In other areas of the Scene outside the Earth, Area Measure is invalid.
- When measuring and calculating Spatial area, the measured and calculated area value is the area without considering the topographic relief of the earth's surface. The area calculation method is as follows: click the mouse to determine a series of points and the current position of the mouse to delineate the measured area range. The system constructs a triangular grid for these coordinate points according to the coordinate information of these points, and then calculates the plane area determined by each triangle in the grid. The sum of the areas of all triangles is the area of the delineated range.
