Dynamic Viewshed Analysis

Instructions for use

Dynamic Viewshed Analysis is to analyze the intervisibility within the Specify Range during driving along the route in 3D Scene according to the specified route based on a certain horizontal perspective, vertical perspective and Specify Range radius. You can animate the results of the Viewshed Analysis from the start to the end of the analysis route. The Analyst Result is colored to distinguish between visible and invisible analysis areas.

Dynamic Viewshed has important applications in security monitoring, aviation and military.

Operation steps

  1. Add data for Viewshed Analysis to the scene, and click the button on the 3D Spatial Analysis tab to bring up the 3D Spatial Analysis "panel.
  2. Add the analysis route in the scene by drawing, mouse selection and import. The specific operations are as follows:
    • Draw: Click the Add button, move the mouse to the scene, draw the analysis route by clicking the left mouse button, and end the drawing by clicking the right mouse button.
    • Mouse select 3D line: If 3D Line Dataset has been added in the current scene, click the button in the toolbar, select a 3D line as the analysis route, and right click to end.
    • Import: Select the Dynamic Viewshed "in the 3D Spatial Analysis" panel, and click the Import button in the toolbar to pop up the Import Route "dialog box. Select 3D Line Dataset in the dialog box to import as a route, and set parameters such as name and visible distance.

Datasource: Datasource where the route data to be imported is located.

Dataset: 3D Line Dataset where the route data is located.

Name: Specify the field where the Import Route name is located, or enter the route name directly in the combo box, which is displayed in the dynamic Viewshed Analysis record list.

Visual Distance: specify the field where the visual distance value of the route for Viewshed Analysis is located, or directly enter the distance value in the combo box, in meters.

  3. Dynamic Viewshed Analysis can set analysis parameters at "Parameter Settings", including visual distance, vertical viewing angle, horizontal viewing angle, role, color of visible area, color of invisible area, analysis precision, etc. One or more results can be selected at the same time in the Analyst Result list for setting:
    • Visual Distance: length range used to set Viewshed Analysis, unit: m. The Viewshed Analysis range can be adjusted by directly entering the visual distance.
    • Vertical View Angle: It is used to set the Analysis Bounds of the vertical direction of Viewshed Analysis. The default value is 60 degrees.
    • Horizontal Angle of View: It is used to set the horizontal range of Viewshed Analysis. It is 90 degrees by default.
    • Role: It is used to set the role model used for analysis, including men, women, cars, airplanes, and Customized Roles.
    • Customized Roles: Role models used for Custom Settings analysis. When the role provided in the panel is not applicable, this parameter can be checked to open the models in *.sgm, *.3ds and *.mesh formats as role models.
    • Advanced Options: Click the Advance Settings button to set the offset information, azimuth angle, pitch angle, color of visible area and invisible area, and analysis accuracy.
      • Offset Settings: You can set Bottom Altitude and Relative coordinates in meters. The offset of the character model can be realized through Offset Settings.
      • Azimuth, Pitch: It is used to set the viewing angle of the character. Azimuth is the angle between the direction of the Current Camera and the direction of true north, and pitch is the angle
      • between the direction of the Current Camera and the ground plane
      • Area Color: Click the Drop-down Button on the right of "Visible Area Color" or "Invisible Area Color" to reset the color of visible area and invisible area.
      • Analysis Precision: The Precision Grade of Analyst Result can be set, including low, medium and high grades.
  4. The Analyst Result of Dynamic Views hed can play and analyze the visibility of the route according to a certain speed. Relevant play parameters can be performed at "Play Settings", including total play time, speed, Model Style, etc. Dynamic Viewshed rendering with the
    role of a car
    • Total Distance: used to display the total length from the start point to the end point of the analysis route, in meters.
    • Total time: used to display and set the playback time of dynamic Viewshed Analysis results, in seconds.
    • Speed: used to display and set the playback speed from the start point to the end point of the currently selected analysis route, in m/s. Default speed is 1.7 m/s.
    • Play With Scene: When this check box is checked, the scene will be changed as the handover moves during the analysis.
    • First Person play: After this check box is selected, the Analyst Result will be played in First Person play, and the scene angle of view cannot be adjusted at this time; If the check box is not checked, the scene angle can be adjusted arbitrarily when playing Analyst Result.
    • Loop Valid: After the check box is checked, the Playback operation of the Execute Analysis route will be repeated when the Analyst Result is played until the user stops playing; If the check box is not selected, the analysis route can be played only once when the Playback operation is executed.
  5. Playback controls, available below the 3D Spatial Analysis panel, allow you to start, pause, or stop playback.
  6. In addition, operations such as export of observation points and deletion of Viewshed Analysis results are provided in the toolbar area.
    • Button: used to remove the dynamic Viewshed Analysis record selected in the panel.
    • Button: export the route recorded by dynamic Viewshed Analysis as Line Dataset, and set the route name, visual distance and Select Fields to save in the attribute table. The specific Parameters are as follows:

Datasource: Datasource where the analysis route data to be exported is located.

Dataset: Save name of the exported analysis route 3D Line Dataset.

Name: Select the "Name" check box to export the name of the analysis route and set the saved Field.

Visual distance: Check the "Visual distance" check box to export the visual distance information and set the saved Field.
