S3M Version Upgrade

Instructions for use

In order to further improve the loading and browsing efficiency of Model Tiles, the S3m Version Up grade function is provided to support the upgrade of spatial 3D Model Tiles data from low version to high version. Currently, it supports upgrading S3M 1.0 files to S3M 2.0, S3M 3.0 or S3M 3.01 files, upgrading S3M 2.0 files to S3M 3.0 or S3M 3.01 files, and upgrading S3M 3.0 to S3M 3.01 files. Model Tiles files are supported for texture and geometry recompression during the upgrade.

When the data is upgraded from S3M 1.0 to S3M 2.0, the sphere type of the data remains unchanged and is a sphere. When the data is upgraded to S3M 3.0 and above, the sphere type of the data is ellipsoid.

Function entrance

  • 3D Data tab-> 3D Tiles group-> Tile Tools Drop -down Button- > S3m Version Up grade Button
  • Toolbox -> 3D Data -> Tile Tools -> S3M Version Upgrade

Operation steps

  1. On the 3D Data tab, under the Tile Tools Drop-down Button in the 3D Tiles group, click the S3m Version Up grade button to bring up the'S3m Version Up grade "dialog '.
  2. Source Data Settings: Click the selection button on the right of Config File, and select the source Model Tiles file in the pop-up Open dialog box; or directly enter the Model TilesFile Path in the text box.
  3. Parameter Settings:
    • S3M version: Select the version to upgrade to as required. Currently, S3M 2.0, S3M 3.0 and S3M 3.01 are supported.
    • Texture Compression Type: Four compression formats are mainly supported. For Tile with different purposes, Application will adopt different Texture Compression methods to reduce the amount of video memory used by texture images.
      • WebP: a Texture Compression format that significantly reduces the amount of data and is supported on both PC and mobile devices.
      • DXT (PC device): Reduce video memory usage and improve rendering performance, but the total amount of data will increase.
      • CRN _ DXT5 (PC): Reduces video memory usage, reduces total amount of data, but requires longer processing time.
      • KTX2.0: Reduces video memory usage, reduces total amount of data, but requires longer processing time than DXT.
    • Vertex optimization mode : supports non-compression and MeshOPT compression. When upgrading to S3M 2.0, the geometry compression type does not support MeshOPT.
  4. Result Data Settings : Click the selection button on the right side of Target Path, and set the path to save Result Data in the pop-up Selection dialog box; or directly enter the path to save Result Data in the text box.
  5. After setting the above parameters, click the "Run" button to execute the S3M Version Up grade operation.
