Extract Boundary
Instructions for use
Isolated triangles are removed and holes are repaired, then the upper boundary points are extracted and the boundary line is fitted by cubic non-uniform B-Spline Curve, and the length of the boundary line is calculated by the method of accumulating chord length parameters. Finally, the boundary surface is projected by parallel tangent planes, and the extended boundary surface is obtained by triangulation. Extract Boundary is mainly used for road and slope protection.
Operation steps
- Open the Datasource containing the Model Dataest, add the Model Dataest to the Spherical Scene, select the Model Dataset Layer in the Layer Manager, and right-click Quickly Locate to This Layer.
- Click the Section and Projection Drop-down Button of the Model Operation group under 3D Geographic Design, and click the Extract Boundary "item in the drop-down menu. The Get the border "dialog box pops up. As shown in the following figure:
- Select the model Object layer for which you want the Extract Boundary.
- Select a Model Dataset Layer from the
- Object layer drop-down menu;
- Operation Object: All Model Objects in the Select Layer or the selected model in the layer can be operated.
- All Objects Participation: Select this option to extract all Model Objects in the selected layer out of the boundary surface; Select a single Model Object
- with the left mouse button or press and hold the "Shift" key on the keyboard. Multiple Model Objects can be selected with the left mouse button.
- Set the Boundary Type. You can extract Triangle boundary faces or Projection contour boundary faces of a model.
- Triangle boundary face: a series of continuous triangle network shapes at the boundary of the model.
- Projection contour boundary face: The geometric face of the model at the projection contour boundary.
- Result: Set the storage information of Result Data.
- Datasource: Set Result Dataset to store Datasource.
- Dataset Name: Dataset Name defaults to Boundary Result. You can define it yourself. Enter a string as the name of the Result Dataset.
- After setting the above parameters, click OK to generate a 3D Region Dataset named after the Resulting dataset name under the specified Result Datasource.

After the Get the border operation is successful, a 3D vector dataRegion Dataset will be generated under the specified Result Datasource, and the vector surface will be browsed in the Add to Scene.
Precautions
- The Extract Boundary operation is for Model Dataest only. Add a Model Dataest to the Spherical Scene and the feature will be activated.
