Analysis Area Settings

Feature Description

Used to set the analysis area for network analysis, defaulting to dataset bounds. It provides two methods: selecting a region or drawing a region. After setting the analysis area, only the network dataset within the specified range will be loaded during network analysis, thereby improving performance.

Steps

  1. In the "Environment Settings" window, click the Analysis Area Settings button to open the "Analysis Area Settings" dialog.
  2. The analysis area settings offer three modes: dataset bounds, current windows, and user custom. Details are as follows:
    • Dataset Bounds: Select the "Dataset Bounds" radio button to use the dataset bounds as the analysis bounds.
    • Current Windows: Select the "Current Windows" radio button to use the map bounds of the current window as the analysis bounds.
    • User Custom: Provides three methods: Select Object, Draw Bounds, and copy and paste.
      • Select Object: Select one or multiple objects in the current map by dragging or clicking to set the selected objects' range as the export bounds.
      • Draw Bounds: Click "Draw" to define a rectangular area in the current map as the export bounds.
      • Copy and Paste: Click the "Copy" button to copy the current bounds. Then click the "Paste" button in any compatible range settings field to apply the copied left, bottom, right, and top values.
  3. Select the "User Custom" radio button in the dialog to set analysis bounds by either selecting or drawing a region:
    • Draw Region: Click the drop-down button on the right, choose "Draw Region," then draw a rectangle on the current map as the analysis area.
    • Select Region: If the current map contains polygon layers, the "Select Region" option will be enabled. Choose a polygon object to set its bounds as the analysis area.
  4. The "Bounds" field displays and sets analysis bounds. For "User Custom" mode, directly input left, top, right, and bottom coordinates in the numeric controls. The coordinates are uneditable if "Dataset Bounds" is selected.
  5. Click "OK" to confirm settings or "Cancel" to exit.
Caution:

The "Analysis Area Settings" feature applies to transportation analysis. If analysis stations lie outside the analysis area, the analysis may fail. Adjust the analysis area or relocate stations within it before retrying.
