The "Thematic Map" tab is used to create various types of thematic maps. Supported thematic types include: Unique Values, Ranges, Labels, Charts, Graduated Symbols, Dot Density, Custom, Raster Unique Values, and Raster Graduated thematic maps.
Feature Description
When the map is opened, the "Thematic Map" tab becomes active. When selecting a vector layer in the layer manager, the thematic type buttons supported by vector datasets become available; when selecting a raster layer, only the Unique Value Thematic Map and Graduated Color Thematic Map buttons supported by raster datasets are enabled.
Steps
There are two methods to create thematic maps for vector and raster data, described as follows.
Select a vector or raster layer in the layer manager, click the desired thematic type button in the "Thematic Map" tab. This will open the corresponding thematic map window displaying default settings. Modify parameters according to specific cartographic requirements.
- Method 1:
- Method 2:
- Select a vector or raster layer in the layer manager, right-click and choose "Create Thematic Map..." from the context menu.
- In the dialog's left panel select a thematic type, then choose a corresponding thematic map template in the right panel. Click "OK" to apply the template style and create the thematic map.
- After creation, the thematic map window will display configuration settings. Adjust parameters as needed to obtain the desired thematic map.
- The template-created thematic map will automatically be added to the current map window as a thematic layer, and a corresponding thematic layer will appear in the layer manager.
Notes
Each thematic map type can be created using both methods mentioned above. Subsequent documentation detailing the creation of specific thematic map types will focus on "Method 2", while "Method 1" will not be elaborated further.
