Create Dot Density Thematic Map

Feature Description

Through the Create Dot Density Thematic Map feature, you can create a dot density map based on templates. This method provides a quick way to generate dot density thematic maps, but the initial results may not fully meet user requirements. Further modifications are necessary to achieve satisfactory thematic map effects. Creating dot density thematic maps using thematic map templates not only simplifies operations but also facilitates batch mapping requirements, enabling the reuse of thematic templates.

When using templates, ensure the existence of thematic map field expressions. If the current layer lacks the thematic map fields specified in the template, a warning dialog will appear: "The thematic map cannot display properly because the expression does not exist. Please specify the expression." Users can proceed to create the thematic map using the template after re-specifying appropriate fields.

Steps

  1. In the Layer Manager, select the polygon vector layer for which you want to create a dot density thematic map.
  2. Right-click the selected vector layer in Layer Manager, choose Create Thematic Map... from the context menu. In the dialog box, click "Dot Density Thematic Map" and select a template from the right panel to create the map.
  3. The template-generated dot density thematic map will automatically be added to the current map window as a thematic layer, and a corresponding thematic layer will appear in Layer Manager.

Notes

  • After creating a dot density thematic map, the "Dot Density Thematic Map" window will open automatically. This window displays default settings including thematic variables, styles, and related parameters used for map creation. Users can modify these settings to refine the thematic map appearance according to specific needs.
  • If the "Dot Density Thematic Map" window is closed, users can reopen it by double-clicking the layer in Layer Manager or right-clicking and selecting "Modify Thematic Map".
