Feature Description

A layout template is a layout that contains only fixed frame information, and it has general professional universality and standardization. In a layout template, to meet the needs of dynamic information, some key information will be defined. It can be loaded into a layout, and then necessary map elements can be added, and the corresponding key information can be modified to complete the layout and arrangement of a complete map. Layout templates are suitable for tasks with similar content and nature, such as printing cadastral maps and parcel maps in a cadastral management system. Layout templates are very conducive to batch production of standardized layouts with similar content, making map output very convenient.

provides various types of layout templates, including single-map templates, multi-map templates, land use planning templates (landscape + portrait), cadastral survey forms, and parcel sketch maps, to meet the needs of different scenarios. When creating a layout using a layout template, map elements such as map title, scale bar, and north arrow, as well as geometric elements such as points, lines, and areas, included in the template will be automatically loaded into the current layout for use.

also supports the management of layout templates, including editing existing layout templates, importing/exporting templates, and managing template groups.

Function Entry

• Start tab -> Browse group -> Layout.
• In the Workspace Manager -> Right-click the Layout node -> New Layout.

Operation Instructions

1. Use layout templates: In the New Layout window. In this window, the system-provided layout templates are arranged in sequence, including blank layout, single-map templates, multi-map templates, land use planning templates, and other 26 layout templates in total. The following operations can be performed on layout templates:
   • Edit Layout Groups: The system divides templates into four groups by default: "All", "General", "Land Use", and "Others". Click the buttons of different groups to switch and view the templates under the current group. The "All" group contains all layout templates.
     • Add Group: Click the "Add" button to create a new group.
     • Delete Group: Select the group to be deleted, right-click and choose the "Delete" button to delete the current group.
     • Rename Group: Select the group to be renamed, right-click the "Rename" button to rename the current group.
     • Add Layout Template: Supports adding new layout templates to a group. Click a group template button, in the current group list, select the Add Template option, open the file selector, select and open a *.ult layout template file, and the selected layout template will be added to that group.
   • Edit Layout Templates: Supports editing, exporting, and deleting existing templates.
     • Edit Template: In the layout list area, select the template to be edited, right-click the Edit button, and the Layout Template Properties dialog box will pop up. You can edit and modify the group, name, author, and layout description of the template. After the modification, click the OK button to save the current changes.
     • Export Template: Select the template to be exported, right-click and choose the Export button to export the current template as a *.ult layout template file, which can be applied to the creation of other layouts.
     • Delete Template: Select the template to be deleted, right-click and choose the Delete button to delete the current template. Note: The operation of deleting template files is irreversible.
     • Import Template: Click the Import button, you can select and open a *.ult layout template file, and the current layout will be created based on the loaded layout template. If the data sources and datasets associated with the maps in the original layout template are different from those in the current workspace, only the north arrow, map title, scale bar, geometries such as points, lines, and areas, and map controls without filled maps will be loaded into the current layout.
2. Export layout template: You can create a layout template according to mapping needs, save it as a *.ult layout template file, and apply it to other layout creations. In the current layout, right-click and choose the Export Layout Template... button, or in the Workspace Manager -> Right-click the Layout node -> Export Layout Template....
   • When exporting a layout template that contains picture objects, you can set the storage method for pictures through the Save Pictures to Template option. This option is unchecked by default.
     • If Save Pictures to Template is checked, the pictures in the layout will be embedded into the *.ult file. After the template file is transferred to another computer, the picture objects in it can be loaded normally.
     • If Save Pictures to Template is unchecked, the pictures in the layout will be saved to the same directory as the template file. When transferring the template, you need to transfer the *.ult file along with the related pictures, and keep the relative positions unchanged.
     • For templates that use local picture paths, if the picture file in the corresponding path is replaced, the picture object will display the replaced picture when the layout template is imported again.
