The Select Drop-down Button provides the ability to Select Map elements, Geometry, or text in some way within the current Layout. "Select" Drop-down Button contains two parts: one is the button part, click this part to directly execute the corresponding function; the other is the Drop-down Button part, click this part to pop up the drop-down menu, and further realize the corresponding function by selecting the items in the drop-down menu.
Objects that can be selected in Layout include: points, lines, planes, etc. Geometry; Text; map elements such as map, scale bar, legend, and north arrow. The "Select" Drop-down Button provides four Select methods: Click, Circular Selection, Polygon Selection, and Line Selection.
Point selection and rectangular box selection
Click the button part of the Select Drop-down Button in the Browse Layout group of the Layout tab to select objects in the layout by clicking or dragging.
- Click: The user can click Select Object with the mouse. When another object is selected, the previously selected state of Select Objects is cancelled; after selecting one object, hold down the Shift key, and when selecting other objects again, multiple objects can be selected simultaneously.
- Box Select: The user can drag the mouse diagonally by clicking the left mouse button and holding it down to display a temporary rectangle that changes in size with Move Stop by Mouse. Release the left mouse button at the appropriate position to determine the rectangular area for selection, and the All Objects with the centroid in the rectangular area will be selected. You can add to the selection by holding down the Shift key to continue the rectangle selection.
Circular Selection
In Layout, draw a temporary circular area and select the objects in the circular area that meet the selection mode. Click the Drop-down Button section and click the Circular Selection "item in the drop-down menu that pops up.
- Click the left mouse button at a position in Layout, which is the center of the temporary circular area drawn. Drag the mouse. As you drag, you see a temporary circle with a constantly changing radius. Click the left mouse button again
- in the appropriate position to determine the circular area for selection by determining the radius of the temporary circle, and the All Objects with the centroid in the circular area will be selected.
- The user can continue Circular Selection by holding down the Shift key to add the selected objects to the original ones.
Polygon Selection
In Layout, draw a temporary polygonal area and select the objects in the polygonal area that meet the selection mode. Click the Drop-down Button section and click the Polygon Selection "item in the drop-down menu that pops up.
- Continuously click the left mouse button in Layout to draw a temporary polygon. When the drawing is finished, click the right mouse button to end the drawing, and the All Objects with the centroid in the polygon area will be selected.
- The user can continue the Polygon Selection by holding down the Shift key to add selected objects to the original ones.
Line Selection
In Layout, select the objects that intersect the line segment by drawing a temporary line segment. Click the Drop-down Button section and select Line Selection "from the drop-down menu that pops up.
- Continuously click the left mouse button
- in Layout to draw a temporary polyline, and click the right mouse button to complete the drawing of the polyline, then All Objects intersecting with the polyline will be selected.
- The user can continue the Line Selection by holding down the Shift key to add the selected object to the original one.
The above selection methods can be mixed. As long as you hold down the shift key when selecting Object, you can add the selected object on the original basis. In Layout, all selected objects are displayed in a special state (selected state).
