Specify Orientation

Function Description

Specify Orientation: Represents moving the object to a new place according to the specified length and angle.

The Specify Orientation function is available only when the layer is editable and a geometry is selected.

Function Entry

  • Edit Data Tab -> Feature Editing Group -> General editing -> Move and zoom -> Specify Orientation

Operation Instructions

  1. In an editable layer, select the geometry to be moved.
  2. In the Edit Data tab, click the Specify Orientation button in the Move and zoom group under the General editing drop-down menu to perform the specify orientation move object operation.
  3. The mouse prompt will appear: "Please specify the base point coordinates." Click the mouse at an appropriate position on the map or enter coordinate values to determine the base point coordinates for the move.
  4. The mouse prompt will then appear: "Please specify target point coordinates." Move the mouse on the map, and the map will display a real-time preview of the moved object (shown with a dashed line). Click the mouse at a suitable position, or enter the length to move the object's center point and its angle relative to the positive X-axis in the parameter input box and press Enter. The selected object will then move to the new position based on the specified distance and direction.
  5. To continue moving the object, repeat the previous step until you right-click to end the current operation.
