Paste Special
Function Description
The Paste Special command is used to paste geometry from the clipboard into a user-specified target layer. As an enhanced version of the standard 'Paste' function, this feature allows users to precisely specify the target layer, enabling finer control over cross-layer editing.
This feature is suitable for editing scenarios where copied objects need to be pasted into different types of layers, or where the target layer needs to be explicitly specified.
Access
-
Context Menu Access: After copying objects, right-click on the map -> select Paste Special from the context menu.
-
Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + V.
Operation Instructions
- Copy Objects: Using the selection tool, select one or more vector objects on the map that need to be copied. Complete the copy by pressing Ctrl+C or via the Copy option in the context menu.
- Open Dialog: Open the "Paste Special" dialog box through any of the above access points.
- Select Target Layer: In the dialog's Paste To Layer dropdown list, select the target layer. This list is intelligently filtered:
- It only includes layers that are already in edit mode in the layer manager.
- Based on the geometry type of the currently copied object(s), it dynamically lists all compatible target layer types (The pasting rules are consistent with the standard paste; for details, please refer to the Pasting Rules Table).
- Execute Operation: Click theOK button to perform the paste.
- View Results: After the operation is complete, the output window will display paste result information, including the count of successful and failed objects along with specific reasons.
- Property Processing: When pasting, the system automatically populates the attribute values of the source object into thecorresponding fields (fields with the same name) of the target layer. If the target layer does not have a corresponding field, the attribute value is not retained.
