Draw A Straight Line

Function Description

The Line command is used to draw straight lines.

Function Entry

  • Edit Data tab -> Object Drawing group -> Line drop-down box -> Line.

Operating Instructions

Drawing a Straight Line by Start Point and End Point

  1. In the Edit Data tab, in the Object Drawing group, click the Line drop-down button and select the Line option from the drop-down menu. The line cursor appears.
  2. Move the mouse to the map. As the mouse moves, the coordinate values of the current mouse position are displayed in real time in the parameter input box that follows. Enter the coordinate values of the start point of the line in the parameter input box (you can switch between the two parameter input boxes by pressing the Tab key), then press Enter to confirm the starting position of the line.
  3. Move the mouse again and enter the coordinate values of the other end point of the line in the parameter input box that follows. Press Enter to complete the drawing.
  4. Right-click the mouse to end the current drawing operation.

Drawing a Straight Line by Length and Angle

  1. In the Edit Data tab, in the Object Drawing group, click the Line drop-down button and select the Line (Length, Angle) command. The line cursor appears.
  2. Move the mouse to the map. As the mouse moves, the coordinate values of the current mouse position are displayed in real time in the parameter input box that follows. Enter the coordinate values of a node of the line in the text box (you can switch between the two parameter input boxes by pressing the Tab key), then press Enter to confirm the starting position of the line.
  3. Move the mouse. As the mouse moves, the map displays in real time the length of the line connecting the mouse position to the previous node (the start point of the line) and the angle between this line and the positive X-axis. Enter the length and angle values in the parameter input box (you can switch between the two parameter input boxes by pressing the Tab key), then press Enter to execute the input and complete the drawing of the line segment.
  4. Right-click the mouse to end the drawing operation of the straight line.
