Draw a Straight Line

Function Description

The Line command is used to draw a straight line.

Function Entrances

  • Features tab->Objects group->Line drop-down list->Line.

Operation Instructions

Draw a line by its start and end points

  1. In the Objects group on the Features tab, click the Line drop-down button and select the Line option from the drop-down menu. The line cursor appears.
  2. Move the cursor to the map. You can see that the coordinate values of the current cursor position are displayed in real-time in the following parameter input boxes as the cursor moves. Enter the coordinate values of the line's start point in the parameter input box (you can press the Tab key to switch between the two parameter input boxes) and press Enter to confirm the starting position of the line.
  3. Move the cursor again and enter the coordinate values of the other endpoint of the line in the following parameter input box. Press Enter to complete the drawing.
  4. Right-click to finish the current drawing operation.

Draw a line by length and angle

  1. In the Objects group on the Features tab, click the Line drop-down button and select the Line (Length, Angle) command. The line cursor appears.
  2. Move the cursor to the map. You can see that the coordinate values of the current cursor position are displayed in real-time in the following parameter input boxes as the cursor moves. Enter the coordinate values of a node for the line in the parameter input box (you can press the Tab key to switch between the two parameter input boxes) and press Enter to confirm the starting position of the line.
  3. Move the cursor. You can see that, as the cursor moves, the length of the connection between the cursor position and the previous node (the line start point) and its angle to the positive X-axis are displayed on the map in real-time. Enter the length and angle values in the parameter input boxes (you can press the Tab key to switch between the two parameter input boxes) and press Enter to execute the input and complete the line segment drawing.
  4. Right-click to finish the line drawing operation.
