The Editable command controls whether a vector layer can be edited, i.e., whether objects within the layer can be modified.
Enable Layer Editing
Method 1:
Right-click the vector layer node in the Layer Manager, then select the Editable command from the context menu to activate editing.
Method 2:
The Editable button (pencil-shaped icon) in front of the vector layer node in the Layer Manager controls editability. Click this button to toggle editing status: activated state allows editing, while locked state prevents modifications.
Method 3:
Right-click the target layer and select Layer Properties. Check the Editable checkbox in the Layer Properties panel.
Method 4:
Open the Layer Control dialog in the Layer Editor, select the target layer, and check the Editable checkbox.
Enable Multi-layer Editing
The Multi-layer Editing checkbox in the Map Editing group on the Features tab controls whether multiple layers can be edited simultaneously. When checked:
- In multi-layer editing mode, multiple editable layers can coexist. Selecting an object automatically switches focus to its containing layer for editing.
- When disabled, only one layer can be editable at a time, requiring manual switching between layers.
- This feature streamlines cross-layer editing and reduces operational steps.
The application disables multi-layer editing by default.
Set Current Layer
During multi-layer editing, use the Current Layer combo box to designate the active editing layer. Click the drop-down button to switch layers. If the selected layer isn't editable, switching to it automatically enables editing.
