Function Description
The Auto-cut Polygons function is used to automatically split the intersection when drawing a region object, and obtain a new object. The new object may be a single object or a complex polygon object.
- The Auto-cut Polygons function is applicable to polygon layers or CAD layers.
- If the newly drawn object intersects with other objects in the layer, it will automatically cut the newly drawn object, removing the intersecting parts, and obtain a new object.
- If the newly drawn object does not intersect with any object, the Auto-cut Polygons function will not be triggered, and the drawn object will be retained.
- If the newly drawn object passes through an existing polygon object, it generates a complex polygon object, i.e., a polygon object with multiple sub-objects. As shown in the figure below, the newly drawn polygon object (dashed rectangle) passes through another polygon object (filled rectangle), resulting in a complex object containing 2 sub-objects.
Function Entry
- Features tab -> Objects group -> Drawing Settings drop-down menu -> Auto-cut Polygons.

- In the Features tab's Objects group, click the Drawing Settings drop-down button, and select the Auto-cut Polygons option from the drop-down menu; or use the Shift+R shortcut key to enable the Auto-cut Polygons function. To disable the Auto-cut Polygons function, click the option again.
- In the current editable layer, draw a polygon object. As shown in Figure 1, draw a rectangle (represented by a dashed line).
- If the drawn rectangle intersects with the other two rectangles in the layer, the drawn rectangle (dashed rectangle) will be cut by the other two rectangles, resulting in a new object, as shown in Figure 2.
- Move the obtained new object, as shown in Figure 3.
- To disable the Auto-cut Polygons function, uncheck Auto-cut Polygons.
