A thematic map emphasizes the representation of one or several natural phenomena or socio-economic phenomena, consisting of two components: thematic content and geographic base map.
This documentation provides a cartographic example to demonstrate how to design and configure both geographic base maps and thematic content using desktop application system, ultimately creating a visually appealing map.

This practical example includes four parts: data preparation, base map configuration, thematic content design and configuration, and map surround elements. Through cartographic operations in desktop application system, we will configure a Weather Forecast Matrix Label Thematic Map to display daily weather forecasts for provincial capitals across the country, supplemented by base map layers conveying hydrological and meteorological information of China.
