Click the matrix cell in the first row of the label matrix, then click the drop-down button that appears on the right side of the cell. Select "Uniform Label" from the pop-up label type dropdown menu to set the first row matrix cell as uniform label. The "Matrix Label Thematic Map" window will display three tabs at the bottom - "Properties", "Styles", and "Advanced" for configuring the first row matrix cell's settings:

• Label Expression: In the combo box on the right side of "Expression:" under the "Properties" tab, set the label expression to CAPITALNAME to display capital and provincial capital names in the first row of the label matrix;
• Label Styles: Under the "Styles" tab, configure the label font to SimSun with font size 11.3, text color (RGB) to (43, 43, 43), and background to white. Other font effect settings are as shown in the figure above.
