Feature Description

Batch reproject enables simultaneous projection transformation for multiple datasets under a datasource. After conversion, the coordinates of specified datasets will match the coordinate system of the target datasource.

Feature Entry

• Start tab->Data Processing group->Project->Batch Reproject.
• Select Batch Reproject from the context menu of a datasource in Workspace Manager.

Steps

1. List of Source Datasets：

   Import datasets requiring batch reproject via the Add button. The list displays Source Dataset, Datasource, Coordinate System, and Target Dataset information.

2. Target Dataset：
   • Datasource: Click the dropdown button of datasource combo box to select the target datasource for storing projection transformation results.
   • Target Coordinate System: Displays detailed description of the target datasource's coordinate system.
   • Note the following about source and target datasource coordinate systems:
     • Planar coordinate systems do not support projection. Datasets with planar coordinate systems in the source datasource will be automatically filtered out in the right-side dataset list. The dataset's coordinate system can be set in the "Coordinate System" page of its properties panel via right-click.
     • It is recommended that datasets in the source datasource maintain consistent coordinate systems with the source datasource. For datasets with different coordinate systems, their actual coordinate systems will be used as source coordinate systems during conversion.
     • Target datasources with planar coordinate systems will be automatically filtered out. The datasource's coordinate system can be set in the "Coordinate System" page of its properties panel via right-click.
3. Reference System Conversion：
   • Conversion Method: Click the dropdown button next to "Conversion Method" label to select from over ten reference system conversion methods. For method descriptions, refer to Reference System Conversion Methods.
   • Projection Transformation Parameters: Different conversion methods require different parameter settings in the "Parameter Settings" dialog. For details, see Dataset Projection Transformation.
4. After completing parameter settings, click the "Convert" button to execute the projection operation. Users can view transformation results in the output window.

Notes： All projections involve distortion. Conversion between different projections is generally not fully reversible. Always backup original files before conversion and minimize conversion frequency to preserve accuracy. Each projection is designed for specific regional characteristics. Perform conversions between coordinate systems with similar scopes to ensure accuracy. For example, converting world Mercator projection to Gauss-Krüger projection only guarantees precision near central meridians. Select conversion methods according to actual requirements. Obtain authoritative surveying data for parameter determination, or verify parameters using known control points in both coordinate systems. After text projection conversion, text height and rotation angle will be adjusted accordingly. If undesired, reset these properties post-conversion.
