Chart Convert Group

Feature Description

Chart convert group refers to the operation of converting S-57 or CJ-57 chart groups between editable and non-editable types. Through group type conversion, it meets the different needs of chart data editing, publishing, and maintenance, enabling efficient data management and reliable publishing workflows.

  • Converting editable groups to non-editable groups is typically used during data publishing. After completing edits and verification, locking data as non-editable ensures distributed data remains unmodified, maintaining stability and authority. This conversion applies when preparing finalized data for official release.
  • Converting non-editable groups to editable groups is used when modifying existing data. By unlocking editing restrictions, adjustments can be made, but caution is required to prevent unintended changes or data loss. This operation is typically performed when receiving new data or identifying required corrections.

Steps

Editable Group → Non-editable Group

Taking the conversion of editable chart group CN5X0000 to non-editable chart group as an example:

  1. In Workspace Manager, right-click the "CN5X0000" group node and select "Generate Non-editable Chart Group", or go to the Chart Tab -> Chart Data Management group -> Convert Group drop-down button, select Generate Non-editable Chart Groups... to open the Convert to Non-editable Chart Group dialog.
  2. Datasources: Supports saving non-editable chart groups to existing datasources or new datasources.
    • Save to existing datasource: Select an existing datasource in the current workspace.
    • Save to new datasource: Click the Create... button in the Datasources dropdown, select a new datasource type, and name it to create a datasource for storing read-only chart group data.
  3. Click OK to convert the editable chart group to a non-editable chart group. The generated non-editable group follows the naming convention: "Editable group name" + "_" + "Scale" (e.g., CN5X0000_12000).

Non-editable Group → Editable Group

To convert a non-editable group to editable:

  1. In Workspace Manager, right-click the non-editable group node and select "Generate Editable Chart Group", or go to the Chart Tab -> Chart Data Management group -> Convert Group drop-down button, select Generate Editable Chart Group... to open the Convert to Editable Chart Group dialog.
  2. Datasources: Supports saving editable chart groups to existing datasources or new datasources.
    • Save to existing datasource: Select an existing datasource in the current workspace.
    • Save to new datasource: Click the Create... button in the Datasources dropdown, select a new datasource type, and name it.
  3. Click OK to complete the conversion from non-editable to editable chart group.
