Select ObjectsSave as Dataset

Instructions for use

The Save As Dataset function can be used to save the selected object as a New Dataset or to an Existing data set. The data used are: 2D point, line, face, Text, 3D point, line, face data, and CAD Dataset.

Note: The object Save as Dataset in the selected Network Dataset and Route Dataset is not supported at present.

Operating instructions

  1. In Current Windows, select the objects you want to export in either way.
  2. Click the right mouse button, select the Save as Dataset command in the pop-up Context Menu, pop up the Save as Dataset dialog box, and set the following parameters.
  3. Layer: Used to select the selected Layer of Object. Since only the selected object of a certain layer can be saved as a new Dataset at a time, when the selected object is included in multiple layers, you need to specify which layer to output the selected object.
  4. Field list: the field to be reserved when selecting Save Select Objects in the field list.
  5. Datasource: Set the Datasource Name of the Dataset where the newly output object is saved.
  6. Dataset: Set the Dataset Name where the newly output objects are saved, and save the Select Objects in the existing Dataset.
  7. Create Dataset: Select this check box to save Select Objects in the newly created Dataset, and set the Datasource Name of the Dataset where the newly output object is saved.
  8. Encode Type: If you save Select Objects to Create Dataset, you can set the Encode Type of the new Dataset. Four Encode types are supported: single-byte, double-byte, three-byte, and four-byte for Line and Region Dataset. Encode Type is not supported for Point Dataset, Tabular Dataset, CAD Dataset, and 3D Vector Dataset. Encode Type is described in the Dataset Compression Encode Type.
  9. Delete Source Object: If the Source Dataset is editable, select this check box to delete Select Objects from the Source Dataset.
