Import Marker Symbol

Support for imported point symbols

The point symbol in the Marker Symbol Library can be made by the Marker Symbol Editor provided by SuperMap, and other existing resources can also be imported into the symbol in the Marker Symbol Library. The origin of point symbols in Marker Symbol Library can be summarized as follows:

  • Make or edit a new point symbol from the Marker Symbol Editor.
  • Import symbols from other symbol library files into the target symbol library to become symbols in the target symbol library.
  • By importing TrueType fonts, some characters are used as dot symbols in the Marker Symbol Library. This type of imported symbol is a Vector Symbol and does not support further editing.
  • Import Raster images, which use grid images as point symbols. The supported grid image formats are: *.png, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.ico (Icon File). This type of imported symbol is a Raster Symbol and cannot be edited through the Symbol Editor.
  • Imports an AutoCAD file (*.dwg or *.dxf) with the contents saved in an AutoCAD file as a point symbol. This type of imported symbol is a Vector Symbol, which can be further edited through the symbol editor.

The following details how to import the various types of point symbols.

Import Marker Symbol to the current Marker Symbol Library.

Before Import Marker Symbol, you need to browse and locate the symbol path to which the new symbol is to be imported, that is, make the symbol list of the symbol library selector display the symbols under Target Path, and locate the symbol to Target Path through the symbol grouping structure tree. After the Import Marker Symbol, the new point symbol appears in the list of current point symbols.

Importing point symbols from other Marker Symbol Library.

Through other Marker Symbol Library files, point symbols in the Marker Symbol Library corresponding to the file are imported into the current Marker Symbol Library in the symbol library selector.

  1. In the Symbol Library Selector, click the File menu, select Import from the drop-down menu, and continue to select Import Marker Symbol under the submenu;
  2. In the popup Open dialog box, find and locate the Marker Symbol Library file where the point symbol to be imported is located, and then open the Marker Symbol Library file;
  3. The Select Symbol dialog box pops up, which displays the symbol library corresponding to the symbol library file in the form of a selector. Select the symbol to be imported from the symbol list, and use the ctrl key to select multiple symbols;

    Since the Select Symbol dialog displays the symbol library corresponding to the symbol library file in the form of a selector, you can perform operations similar to those of Symbol Library Management with the symbol library selector on the Select Symbol dialog. Here, you can select point symbols to be imported by opening another Marker Symbol Library file through a function under the File menu on the Select Symbol dialog.

  4. Click the OK button to import the selected symbol into the symbol list in the current symbol library selector.

Import TrueType Fonts

  1. In the Symbol Library Selector, click the File menu, select Import from the drop-down menu, and continue to select Import TrueType Fonts from the submenu;
  2. In the pop-up Select Chars "dialog box, select the characters to be imported as dot symbols, and use the shift key or ctrl key to select multiple characters;
  3. Confirm whether to convert the characters to graphics, and then click the "OK" button to finish importing the characters. The imported point symbols will appear in the list of symbols in the current symbol library selector. When

    importing TrueType fonts as point symbols, the TrueType fonts that users can import depend on the local font library, that is, the font libraries on different machines are different, and the optional character resources are also different when importing TrueType fonts. If the "Convert to Graphics" checkbox is not checked when importing TrueType fonts, the symbols imported into the symbol library will still exist as TrueType fonts, so that if the symbol library is shared on other machines, there is no corresponding font library on the target machine. Then the imported TrueType font is not available on the target machine; If the Convert to Graphic check box is checked when importing TrueType fonts, the contour lines of TrueType fonts will be extracted as point symbols after importing. At this time, the imported TrueType fonts exist in the form of graphics instead of fonts in the font library. This allows sharing without regard to whether the same font library is installed on the target machine.
