Snap Types

The description and illustration of snap types are shown in the following table:

Snap Type Description Illustration
Point snapping to endpoints

Move the cursor to the endpoint of an existing line or polygon boundary line, and a snap prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a point at the endpoint.

Point snapping to midpoints

Move the cursor to the midpoint of an existing line segment, and a snap prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a point at the midpoint of the line segment.

Point snapping to nodes

Move the cursor to an existing point or node of an object, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw an overlapping point.

Point snapping to lines Move the cursor to an existing line object, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a point on the line object.
Point snapping to extensions Move the cursor to the extension line of an existing line segment, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a point at that location, facilitating the drawing of an extended line.
Draw horizontal line The drawn line segment is horizontal to the map, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a horizontal line segment.
Draw vertical line The drawn line segment is vertical to the map, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a vertical line segment.
Parallel lines The drawn line is parallel to an existing line segment, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a line segment parallel to the existing line.
Perpendicular lines The drawn line is perpendicular to an existing line segment, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a line segment perpendicular to the existing line.
Fixed angle between lines The angle between the drawn line and an existing line segment equals the specified angle value, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a line segment with an angle equal to the specified value relative to the existing line.
Draw line with fixed length The drawn line equals the specified length value, and a prompt will appear. Click the left mouse button to draw a line segment with a length equal to the specified value.
