Smooth
Function Description
The Feature Editing group on the Features tab provides functions to process the boundary lines of line or region geometries. The curve smoothing function primarily smooths the boundary lines of lines or regions, transforming polylines into continuous smooth line objects.
The controls in the Feature Editing group are only available when there are selected geometries (lines or regions) in editable layers within the map.
- The Smooth function is used to smooth the boundary lines of selected lines or regions in editable layers within the current map.
- Smoothness indicates the degree to which the original line object becomes smoother. This parameter value is proportional to the number of nodes in the transformed line object. Its value is an integer ranging from 2 to 10.
- The line object participating in smooth line must be a line object with more than three (including three) nodes. Since a straight line between two points is already a smooth line, smooth line is unnecessary.
Function Entry
- Features Tab -> Feature Editing Group -> Smooth.
- Image Mosaic Tab -> Feature Editing Group -> Smooth.
Operation Instructions
- Set the layer containing the geometries (lines or regions) to be smoothed in the map to an editable state.
- Select the geometries (lines or regions) to be smoothed. You can hold down the Shift or Ctrl key to select multiple geometries continuously.
- In the Gallery control of the Feature Editing group on the Features tab, click the Smooth button to open the Curve Smoothness Settings dialog box.
- Enter the curve smoothness value in the text box on the right side of Smoothness. The default value is 4.
- To smooth geometries in other layers in the map, repeat steps 1 to 4 above.
- Click the OK button to complete the curve smooth line for the selected objects.
Notes:When multi-layer editing is enabled, users can simultaneously select multiple lines and regions from multiple editable layers to perform curve smoothing operations.
