Enable Layer Editing

Editable command is used to control whether the vector layer can be edited, i.e., whether the objects in the layer can be edited.

Enable Layer Editing

Method 1:

Right-click the vector layer node in the layer manager, and select the Editable command from the context menu to activate the editing operation.

Method 2:

The Editable button (shaped like a pen) in front of the vector layer node in the layer manager is also used to control whether the vector layer is editable. Click the button to toggle the editable state. When the button is activated, the vector layer is editable; when the button is locked, the vector layer cannot be edited.

Method 3:

Right-click the layer to be edited and select the Layer Properties item. In the Layer Properties panel, check the Editable checkbox.

Method 4:

In the layer editor, open the Layer Control dialog box. In the dialog, select the layer to be edited and check the Editable checkbox.

Enable Multi-layer Editing

In the Map Editing group on the Features tab, the Multi-layer Editing checkbox is used to control whether the current map is in multi-layer editing mode. Check this box to enable multi-layer editing for the current map; uncheck it to allow only one layer to be editable at a time. By default, the application does not enable multi-layer editing.

  • If the current map is in multi-layer editing mode, multiple map layers can be editable simultaneously. When a user selects an object on the map, the layer containing that object will automatically become the current layer, allowing the user to edit its contents.
  • If the current map is not in multi-layer editing mode, only one layer can be editable at a time. To edit other layers, users must frequently switch the editable state of the layers.
  • The multi-layer editing feature facilitates editing across different layers in the map and reduces user operations.

Specify the Current Layer

During multi-layer editing, you can specify the current editing and operating layer using the Current Layer combo box. Click the drop-down button on the right to switch the currently edited layer in the dropdown menu. If the selected layer is not editable, switching the Current Layer to that layer will automatically set it to editable.
